If you just barely wet a bar of white soap enough so it can coat the bristles of a brush, it will protect the bristles from the rubber in masking fluid ruining your brush. Rub and roll the dampened brush on the bar of soap. This also helps it stay in a point.
Make sure to not dip the entire brush in the masking fluid or it defeats the purpose of the soap coating. When finished, rinse the brush and there should be no gumming stuck to your bristles. You just saved a good brush from ruin.
